Follow the money

After Trump’s Win, Wealthy Americans Rush to Buy ‘Golden Visas’

"The U.S. election was a decisive victory for President-elect Donald Trump, yet not everyone is happy. Nearly 72 million Americans voted for Democrat rival Kamala Harris. And though it’s common for some voters to proclaim they’re leaving the country if their candidate isn’t the winner, most stay put. ...

During the Nov. 5 election week, Henley & Partners, a global firm that specializes in residency and citizenship applications, received 674 inquiries from U.S. citizens, a 392% spike over the previous week. Applications for residency or citizenship by investment—in which applicants invest in a nation’s economy directly or indirectly— are up 26% this year over last."

In the UK, after the recent Labour Party election win, a lot of entrepreneurs and wealthy folks also said they are leaving.

"More than 6,000 millionaires will flee Britain for the European Union by the end of December to avoid a Labour tax grab, research shows. A report by investment advisory firm Henley & Partners found 68pc of Britain's wealthiest residents who plan to leave the country will vacate to Europe."

If only the Hollywood elite's would now follow through on their promises to leave. Now that would be real progress.

Every politician siphons off money for all sorts of stuff. What's with the incredulity here?

I wonder if Trump's war chest still needs topping up? I need to check my spam box.

Yup, still at it.

The biggest money surprise was that Oprah was paid a million dollars for her endorsement.

The unsurprising thing is this is a false claim.

The mill was paid to Oprah's production company not her personally. She is no dummy.

so, to produce a one hour faux interview and build a cheap TV set costs a million bucks? I'm sure that included full travel and per diem for the HARPO crew to travel to the interview location..

as for the "huge increase" in searches for expatriate visas and "golden visas" ya gotta think that a goodly part of that is self generating as people see such stories they then start searching out of curiousity.. The proof though would be the actual numbers that leave and I'll bet that is miniscule in comparison to the internet searches...

This is right up there with headlines saying, "record number of applications to renounce US citizenship..." The stories rarely delve into the why.. And, the why is usually that the people are dual US citizens, lived in their home country most of their lives and want to get out from under the IRS laws that tax every American citizen, worldwide.

For context, Temu, the ultra-cheap Chinese online retailer forked out $7 million for each of their three, 30-second superbowl ads plus another two in the post game. They're not after votes though, just more buyers of their cheap Chinese stuff. Like America's two-car garages aint full of enough junk already.

Not so much a case of right v. wrong as much as it is of being ACCURATE.

I admit, it's a challenge sifting the "conspiracy theories" and "misinformation & disinformation" from the "mainstream media rhetoric" and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even me. But, like the old addage 'If it sounds too good to be true,' then it probably is?

I'm impressed with the Trump appointments. He has not chosen big wigs from the swamp, instead appointed true businessmen and people who really know what they are doing. The corrupt government is going to be shaken up and the country will greatly improve and save a lot of money. The election 2 years from now will be interesting.

Following Trump's widely acclaimed nomination of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General, I understand that he is now looking for a suitable, high level position for George Santos.
