When you say "beer lao n Chang", does that mean you drank all of the former at yesterday afternoon's venue, or did you change when you moved to the evening venue, as threatened?

Biden is asking.

BREAKING: Over 200 retired military generals and admirals have endorsed former President Trump in an open letter.
The difference between our lists is that my list has numerous people who worked directly with Trump during his time in the White House, -- Cabinet members, senior White House staff, and the like. Trump's own selected people, the best of the best, as he put it. You've presented a lengthy list of miscellaneous retired military people, of whom there are currently estimated to be approximately 2½ million.

Oh, puhleeze! I only had to listen to the first 25 seconds or so. At about 23 seconds, Tyrus says to Trump, "You're a family man!" And Trump agrees if you continue listening.

Here's Trump's idea of what family men do:

For those who have missed the interview with the "family man" which has disappeared from above, here it is:

UM, to quote an expression favoured by one on here, has nailed it.

A further interesting point - "Tyrus", the interviewer, may possibly be Rupert's love child ( :^o :D ), and the website this YouTube emanates from is owned by Fox News.

HERE IS THE TRUTH:

Trump's supporters don't measure his success by what he does for them, they measure by what he does AGAINST people they don't like. That's why they see him as being "successful." This is why they will NEVER abandon him. His tormenting of the "others" sustains them.

LBJ once said:

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

This is a concept Trump understands very well. He's a master manipulator and has seriously damaged the country and he's not done.

Your truth does little to explain how Trump won the votes of blacks, Asians and Latinos. Is it because you think they are uneducated or does that explanation only refer to poor and religious whites? Perhaps your other reason applies, namely, that non-whites voted for Trump because of what Trump does AGAINST people they don't like. There must be other truths to unravel to explain his win other than the ones you provided.

He excels at being a snake oil salesman/conman and his tough talk tone resonates with average Joe Americans. There has long been an antigovernment sentiment, probably since JFK was killed. The man can hang with the very best of history's cult leaders. What else can I tell you. As you can see from his ridiculous and impulsive cabinet picks, he is not a serious person. Yet, the situation is quite serious for the next 4 years. On the bright side, nobody had to die this time around because he considered the election fair (since he won). But he's a clown and Americans will now get the drama that they voted for. We live in the twilight zone.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, his words over the past decade belie what he's saying now.

It seems you should have had a more open mind and listened to the points Declan made. Me too. He seemed to have understood what was going on, and would happen, very well, and from an early stage. To a lesser extent, we would have been wise to follow the wisdom the Scunthorpe's man on-the-spot spoke. He also saw what was coming down the track.

They understood what now? They rolled the dice and won. Same as about 50% of about 70 million Americans

Nobody knows what's "coming down the the track," least of all a couple of lucky punters on UM

My impression from his posts was that Declan believes that Trump is a great person and will make a great President. He's unbelievably ill-suited to be President, has no historical knowledge which would allow him to view the world in context, has no morals, said whatever he needed to say to get the votes, truth be damned. Remember the wall that Mexico was going to pay for?

That said, He did successfully sell himself to a majority of American voters, by making promises that he can't possibly keep. I think that they're going to find out relatively quickly that he can't deliver on what he promised, and probably won't on most of those things which he can. I'll be interested to see how Trumpers react when they find out what stiff import tariffs do to their cost of living, -- that means most cars, most electronics, etc.

I think you are correct and wish the result had ended differently. I also believe that a number of his supporters will be upset at his future programme for the country.

In some ways this election reminded me of the way Hilary went about running her campaign. There could have been less focus on the entertainers and more time devoted to the economy. The message by Kamala seemed to be good enough to win, but it didn't grab the attention of the voters or the electors who were supposed to be pro-Harris.

Neither candidate offered anything of substance on economy. Trump only said that he would fix it without specifics whereas Harris didn't offer anything at all.

I stand corrected, thanks. So now I wonder how these tangible policies failed to counter the overly simplistic bombast from Trump of making everything great again?

Those proposals were a mid-August "reveal" and if I'm not mistaken, was shortly followed by media reports of record-breaking Democrat donations and Harris taking a lead in several polls. By October, her campaign commenced the 'racist' and 'fascist' name-calling and focusing on the theory of diminished woman's rights under a misogynistic leadership.

Was anyone overly worried about "price gouging"? Was the policy statement too granular and needed too much analysis and thought for the average voter? Trump's sparse economic policy details included corporate tax cuts and import tariffs with the inference that this would make everyone better off.

well, I'll go with what my younger son told me a couple of months ago.. He said, "Dad, don't worry about anything but final results, that's all that counts..." So, if by June/July the economy is humming, inroads into wild spending made, Ukraine/Russia in some type of a cease fire, Israel attaining its goals against Hamas and Hezbollah, and Iran being far more circumspect in its activities in the Middle East, that'll do it...
