One of the things I have noticed in this time in that Thai women are expert in finding that farang, but unless they are willing to adapt just like you are going to have to do. They are not real good at keeping them.

to me it seems easier and the women want to talk more as i got older, when i first showed up in Thailand i do remember it was unlikely you could really get to speak to well educated women bank/office/shop staff but now you can easily crack up a bit of a chit-chat and i get the impression some really do seem interested in going a little further, maybe times changed over the years or maybe they was'nt interested in the very young 'fresh faced' farang that was around the same age as them back then, and are looking for the more mature 'lived in' type of guy, and a little passa-thai goes down well.
Even Quazimodo might get a look in with a bit of Thai language under his belt, if he was in Thailand on a well earned ' 2 centre ,2 week plus 1 week free' holiday from ringing those bells of course.

Well I said do what you enjoy, for me thats riding. I went on a village ride today stopped twice and was offered introductions twice. One the girl was sitting there about 23 gorgeuous, looked she had an infant about four months old.

I was never more then 70 Klm fom Udon, but I do speak enough to Thai to be friendly and chit chat a bit. I wasn't looking.

Now I have to admiit I was drinking I had coffee at one place and water at the toher. No I seldom drink.

I must have seen at least three different very beuatiful young ladies that if you could speak a bit of Thai enough to ask directions maybe ask for glass of water. It would be easy to meet them.

Now were these good girls who know but they were not in bars.

I have met many a beautiful Thai girl in these parts. My biggest problem is that most of them don't speak any English. Without communication the relationship is doomed...

The question should not be 'Where are all the good girls?', but 'How do I meet them?' The answer is, it seems, is learn to speak Thai.

Spot on! If you only seek an English speaking Isaan lady, imagine how many are out of the equation.

I have lived in Udon a lot longer than most... I do not mix with Farangs.. Most do not know me... and YES I am "Talking from experience" a girl died 4 days ago in the soi behind my house...

I have lived in Udon for 3 years, 8 years total in Thailand and been in and out of S.E.Asia since 1968. So what!!!!!!

I mix with falangs, many know me, many do not. I also mix with many Thais in my home area.

I am sorry that a girl in the Soi behind you died. I presume it was from AIDS/HIV. If she was young then there is the loss of the great potential that the young have.

I think you need to re-evaluate your sense of priority, how many young girls have died in Thailand from head injuries in the last year that occured whilst riding motor cycles and could have been prevented by the use of helmets.
