Bit over the top,I think! It looks to me that they are adding classified sponsor sites in Thai to give better service to the sponsors!erikr_ wrote:they are updating the ads in thai, but have to say that it makes the frontpage cluttered like a thai market
ah well, guess this is just the start , just shows falang is not welcome in Thailand anymore Next month the entire site is thai =D>

It is difficult to grasp your point khun erikr_ since there is no compelling reason to think that udonmap.com has taken an anti-farang attitude by permitting sponsors to post some information in Thai, which, after all, is the main language spoken in Thailand. I think we are safe to assume that we will be able to post replies/topics in English for many months and years to come.
Don't think too much

Re: Thai Language
We're translating the sponsors businesses into Thai language for our Thai visitors and have alocated a (Thai language only) forum for these posts. The rest of the forum will continue as usual in English.Sabai wrote:Hi lads Whats the story on th Thai langug posts? What did I misss . Been off air sometime now as I was moving house.

haha I smashed around the smilies for the fun part. All people complaining how thailand gets more unwelcome to foreigners all the time. But serious about the clutering part. The webmaster could discard the thai forum from the english frontpage so we can still see all the last interesting posts instead of like this morning a list full of translations.BKKSTAN wrote:Bit over the top,I think! It looks to me that they are adding classified sponsor sites in Thai to give better service to the sponsors!erikr_ wrote:they are updating the ads in thai, but have to say that it makes the frontpage cluttered like a thai market

This is a business and therefore they are right to add the thai part.
Without members there would be no forum, with no forum there would be no sponsors. I think that maybe management should thank us for what ever success the forum may have achieved. This attitude that the forum was added for our pleasure is simply wrong. We are principal assets of the forum, and with an active membership more money can be made. As a member I am not just a necessary evil or something to be tolerated.
I think this forum is often mismanaged. This idea of putting sponsors

OOps didn't mean to open a can of worms. just an observation. I think once the project is caught up I assume we will go back to the norm. Yes without a support group there will be no forum. Small price to pay as members to get what we do from this.
Already working on reading Thai, most of which I could do here. I laughed cause I can't recognize the chracters not because thier wrong but because they are small and and I can't see them. I have the same problem with some books.
If you want an answer about life in Udon this is the place to find it.
So a little patience

We at udonmap.com appreciate all the input and support from the members of this forum, as we've said many times before, without you and the sponsors this board would not be possible.
We’ve added one section for Thai posts, not to increase profit, in fact far from it; we're adding it to make the board more universal. We have received many emails from locals and sponsors for a Thai language section. Since not everyone who visits the forum has a strong understanding of the English language, we agreed to add it.
We're very sorry if this causes confusion, please bare with us while we work our way through the sponsors businesses. This shouldn’t be too long.
Your patience is appreciated.
