I have lived in Thailand for many years, maybe too many. I have seen many relationships go wrong. Based on what I have seen, I had decided that I would most likely be single for the rest of my life. Just when I had totally given up on ever finding a wife, the right lady came along. Young Thai women think you are wealthy whether you are or not and at the same time tend to be jealous clinging types. Good wife material means a mature lady, over thirty and at least for me, without kids. Some guys happen to enjoy kids but I am too selfish to raise anyone else's. My wife is not the jealous type and she is very capable. If anyone thinks Thai women are subservient, they have NOT met my wife.

What can you expect when an old man picks a young piece of eye candy and then deludes himself into thinking she really loves him?

I agree with you totaly. When theres a large age difference and the farang is set in his ways and expectations, then add to this the cutural differences then there will always be a problem.

In western Europe 1 in 3 marriages fail without these added problems.

I don't think it matters what the background of the female is as long as, as my wife says she has a good heart.

I have been told that a isarn lady 25 years old has the mentality of a 15 year old.They lack comen sence.After 15 years of Thai women i think they are all very stupid people.And are un change able.

I'm sorry I have to put my 2 cents in on this one. I respect your comments and opinions Carpy but that is pretty harsh thing to say. You are being one dimensional on the issue. To say all Thai women are stupid is outraged and uncalled for. I would not use the word stupid to classify people not meeting your standards. Just because PEOPLE from all walks of life; not just Thai who lack education; that don't make them stupid. So what you are saying is that all Issan girls including my family in Thailand are all stupid because they had to quit school to take care of family members, or couldn't afford to further education because government promised them something and they don't delivered.

You know what... I am Thai as well but live in USA now for 32 yrs. I have just recently retired from 21 yrs, 9 months in the United States Air Force. I am a naturalized American citizen and I am proud to have served, preserved, and the protected the freedom of America and perhaps the world. But to hear you say this about my heritage country is an insult especially I am one those poor people (farm people). It doesn't matter what I had accomplished if I don't respect and honor my place of origin.

If foreigners have this to say and think about Thai women...then why are there so many of them left their countries to live in Thailand and married a STUPID Thai woman.

i dont i found it too boring ...and i like the outdoor life ,being cooped up in the house with the aircon on 24hours is not for me .

I think nowadays things have changed alot in Isarn sociaty, and more people are educated in here since most Isan valued in education the most. People in farm are struggling with their life alot, and I'm sure most of them know how hard the life is;therefore, they would't want their kids to have tough lives such as them.However, the main problem of all is because of the financial, and lack of proper help from the governtment to support with education.Eventhough there are some schorlaships for poor people in the remote area, most of the shorlarships are way too compicated to get because of the unorganization from our own government here and many more factors(since you know there are not many things can work right and run smooth in Thailand.

hehe of course not.On the other hands, we can't think of as such complicated theories like he did.I think it is all about people are smart at different things in their different own ways of life. As the result, Isarn women would be smart in their own way too

How interesting, my wife does not understand how I do things. However she has never done the things I did to survive. She doesn't have the knowledge in the same areas as I do. Why should she? She really had no reason to learn.

We have been together for over four years I have five years in country. She speaks english much better then I speak Thai. She can approcah day to day life here in ways that I don't understand and get things done. So which one of us is stupid?

I trust her a heck of a lot more then I do any farrang in areas of Thai life. I trust myself to deal with those things that she has not learned. It's bit much to expect someone that has not had a need to learn to understand how we think.

Money is a great example I canl;t tell you how many people gte upset cause my wife gets 50K a month. they really donlt want thier wives to hear that. But my wife runs the household budge she pays bills with that money and keeps everything squared away. The only thing I pay out of my half is for gas for the bike, the health insurance and car insurance.

That wasn't an automatic I had to teach her to use a budget and save money for problems that always come up. The end result I have don't have to worry about that I know what my expenses are. I can't tell you how many guys that I have met that are worried to death about how much money thier wives spend, don't trust them at all with money. Get real they have had to live within thier means long before we met them.

So you want to be critical of someone that has no idea what they family income really is, you have not given any reponsibilty to, or authority. You treat them like a child, with an allowance. Then you wonder why they act like a child. Hmm wonder where that comes from?

How many of us rely on our stupid wives to get us through normal days simply because we don't understand the language. It finally one day when I couldn't get the message across that I was asking my wife to explain thing about mechanics and computers, something she knows nothing of in a second language to her, to be translated into her native language. Most of the time she can do that. Now which one of us is stupid?

Stupid what a cruel thing to say.

it amazing my wife has very little education but she reads write english I can not read one word of thai or speak a sentence in thai and as for the family budget I give her my pension checks she spends them wisely pays all the bill except my credit cards which I pay on line she will go 100 extra miles to make me happy you will not find that in a white or black women I will defend her with my life are you ready to take it if not shut your F-*-*-*-ing mouth no one really cares about your bigot small mind

While I agree with your sentiments and simpathise with your beliefes, it may be wise to tone it down just a tad

I too have a wonderful woman who is very smart and capable and runs two house holds 3,000 miles apart. Hardly the act of an idiot

Aardvark I am a street kid from Brooklyn N.Y USA were I come from no one insults you or your family with out getting there fanny kicked and I did not make any threats if he said that in person I might not be as graceful as I am in here I am also a uneducated falong and if some one called me stupid the boxing gloves would go on immediatly with no rules of engagement
I also want to say I want people to understand me so that there is no mistake later on
and it not about winning or losing it about my HONOR and my wife HONOR whom I love very much
