Surragacy

Post by Kudjap or Bust » October 24, 2007, 10:45 am

Not sure this is the right catagory but here goes

My wifes neice has recently been told she can't have children bacause of a problem causing her to miscarry every time she concieves.

As you can imagine she's devistated. I mentioned to the TW that this was also the case with a cousin of mine and his wife and they opted to use (hhmm perhaps the wrong word) the wife's sister as a surragate mother.

Is surragacy available, even legal, in Thailand? If it is do all the main hospitals do the procedure?

I have a friend who did it in Bangkok. His sister-in-law was the surrogate mother. Their son is now 9 years old. He has both passports and birth certificates, US and Thai. Everything went as planned, no problems.

Can someone explain this procedure? Whose egg is it? Where is it fertilized, etc.?

Theres 2 ways as far as I know.

First, where there is a donor mother whose egg is taken fertilised in a lab with the sperm from the father of the couple who want a child, then replaced into the donor mother for the duration and birth.

Second, where the female of the couple who want a child has an egg fertilised by the sperm of her partner, again in a lab, this is then placed in the donor mother for the duration and birth...

Well thats as much as I know anyway
