BKK Connecting flight to UTH ?

Hi please can you help looking for some information

I need to book a flight to Udon Thani for a friend next Tuesday (the 16th)
Arrives on EVA air in Suvarnabhumi at 15:05

Looking for a flight that evening allowing her time for collection of her bags customs clearance etc ...

prefer not to have fight her way across Bangkok over to DongMuang

can you advise please...

Air asia at 16.15pm arrives Udon 17.15pm from suvannabhumi, doubt if you will have enough time though.

transfer to DM, and get 6.00pm Thai flight .

As BM said her only option will be to transfer to DM as the 16.15pm Air Asia is the only one of the day from Suvannabhumi and 1.10 mins is not going to be enough time to make the connection.

as a very frequent traveler to Udon,every 4 -5 weeks, and returning from my work in Africa , there are no flights that can be booked with the arrival of European flights at Suvannabhumi that allow u to get to Udon that same night.

TG will not allow u to transit via Don Muang without a 3 hour transit time

This costs me a hotel, meals ,taxis, every time, lucky my company pays the lot,

The only option is taxi, Bus or a prebooked train ticket

Hi just to let you know she took a taxi over to Dong Muang from Suvannabhumi, told taxi to go "LILL LILL" and she made it in time to check in for the Thai Air 6 pm same day flight.

I know that this is now too late for the OP but I thought I would give an update in case anyone else might e interested for future reference...

there is a bus (number 555 - no joke !!) that runs from one airport to the other. I recently got the bus from DM to SV and it costs 34baht - pay the conductor on the bus. It runs every 50 minutes and takes about an hour. You pick it up outside arrivals at DM (back end of taxi rank) and it drops you off outside departures at SV.

I can only assume that the return leg is very similar but if anyone has any info on that leg, please let us know, e.g. you can only get the bus at SV departure level etc.

Been there- done all of the options . Now I take a taxi (am dealing directly with the driver (lady) )since last time her company skimmed off Baht 1500.
I am paying her Baht 4500 ,she picks me up at the gate and delivers me in about 7 hours to my house door,it is worth the few extra Baht when one is travelling with luggage enough for two mule to choke on.

since we are the subject about flying to Udon via BKK. I have a baggage weight dilemna. my TG and I are flying too BKK on Cathay Pacific. I recently bought 2 one way tickets from BKK to Udon with Air Asia. I thought everything will go smoothly until we forgot about the baggage restrictions. I read on AA website that they only allow 15kg for check in and 7kg carry on. they charge about 80baht/per 1kg over. we are packing now and don't know what to do.she started to pack 1 check in luggage with gifts and so far the luggage is close to 70kg. in addition,we were planning to take 2 carry ons. now we have to deligate and try to figure out how we can take #2 carry ons and 1 checked in bag without having to pay a fortune. i tried to get a hold of AA to cancel our tickets so i can purchase Thai Airways but they put me on hold for a long time. I gave up wasting my calling card on them. anyone may have a better suggestion?advice? appreciate anyone's reply.

Ask mobaan for the ladys number,although a 7 hour drive might not be ideal after a long haul.

Air Asia tickets are seldom refundable and they charge 80B/kilo as soon a you get over your quota: moral pay the surcharge as things stand, or taxi to Dong Muang and extra tickets on Thai, what will be the most economic?

I had to pay +400 Baht two weeks ago for having 20kgs.

Probably too late to help averagejoe unless he's able to get a refund from Air Asia but the overnight train to Udon is an excellent alternative. You can catch the train at Don Muang or in Bangkok at Hualomphong main station. Get the 1st class cabin, if it's available, and you can cram a lot of luggage in there with you and your TW/GF for 1,000 baht and change for each ticket. 2nd class sleeper is also not bad. A 10 hour or so trip so bring a good book along or sleep most of the way and arrive with all of the "excess" luggage, refreshed and ready to see the wonders of Udon Thani.

Did I get it right, Stan (another train aficionado)?

For those traveling from Europe to Chiang Mai is far more convenient and cheaper to fly to Singapore and there to change to a direct Chiang Mai flight serviced by Tiger Airways.

Tiger Airways are planning to start with direct flights BKK - UTH and SG - UTH from H2 2008 forward.

Perfect Polehawk!Can't undrstand why people want to spend their time hassling with Taxis ,hotel rooms and luggage charges by taking 1 hour flights to Udon that take about 4-5 hours of prep ,running around and extra charges.
I like to take my own refreshments and food with my good book!

Lynx do you have a more specific link re the Tiger Air flights from Singapore to Udon Thani in 2008. I cannot find anything on the link you provided.

Tiger was previously flying this route from Mar 07 until last month, but it has now been suspended/cancelled, apparently. Mind you, not a dickie bird from Tiger on the fact they were not flying the route any longer.

Jackspratt, they cancelled the route due to the rising cost of fuel and insufficient number of customers. They made a marketing mistake starting this flight destination at the beginning of the low season and with the type of carrier they used. I know somebody who is working there in the marketing department (mid level management) and according to him, they plan to re-launch in H2 2008 (possibly October) with a smaller plane and fewer flights, but it's still on the list. I hope they won't change their minds as I much prefer to be changing planes in SG (and shopping there).
