90 Day Notification by mail?
90 Day Notification by mail?
My 90 notification is coming up in a couple of weeks so I thought I might try it by mail.
As I understand it I need to send by registered mail:
copy of Picture page of passport
copy of visa extension
copy of entry stamp and arrival card
original of the current 90 day notification
the filled in new 90 day notificaton form
self addressed stamped envelope
The address I have is:
Nong Khai Immigration Office
106 Moo 7
Nong Khai - Vientiane Road
Meechai, Muang
Nong Khai 43000
But, according to http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en ... age=90days you need to provide: "Copy of all passport pages (up to the latest arrival stamp in the Kingdom or latest visa stamp)" For me that means 9 A4 pages at 4 passport pages each. Do they really want this? I realise the url I've given says "nov2004" but that's the page that comes up when you go to http://www.immigration.go.th.
That page also says you can send it to Bangkok at:
90 Days Registration, Room 206
Immigration Bureau,
507 Soi Suanplu,South Sathorn Rd.,
Thungmahamek Sathorn
Bangkok. 10120
Has anyone had any recent experience with doing this? Given the rather fluid nature of the rules in Nong Khai I thought I'd better check to see what's happening lately.

My, my, a bit testy, aren't we. Uh, you guys did actually read my post before whipping off your snappy replies, right?
As it happens I did do a search. The most recent post I found here was in July. Thaivisa, while having good info is generally not too specific for Nong Khai's special requirements. After checking http://www.immigration.go.th and having read the November 21 post http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/v ... php?t=6951 where Nong Khai now required him to submit every page of his passport, I thought I'd check to see what the recent experiences were. It's probably my fault for not using better subject line. Maybe something like - Has anyone had success in the last couple of months with a 90 day notification by mail to Nong Khai and do they now require all the pages of your passport?

Try here fremmel - it answers at least half of your question, and is up to date.

However, we should keep the intent of the original post in mind -that of obtaining an update. The referenced page has been on the immigration website for the longest time, and it is commonly understood that procedures change, but immigration is very poor at getting the information out to those affected.
Personally, I find this thread very interesting since it is likely to eventually tell us if the 90 day by mail information on the Immigration Bureau's website is still up-to-date.

Thanks for that jackspratt. Better info than I expected from Thaivisa. Although for Nov., as of the last post, it looks like one success and one 3 week wait with no reply. Since there was no mention of increased paper work I'll try it with the old requirements and hope that, contrary to Thai Immigration's web site, what they wanted from DieselDaddy was specific to a visa extension. If I there are any problems I'll let y'all know.
Thanks, that's good to hear. I sent mine off Thur. so we'll see what happens.
By the way, the zip code I gave above is not correct. It should be 43000.
I tracked the letter at http://track.thailandpost.co.th/trackin ... px?lang=en and saw that it got there yesterday.

Well, don't worry about the zip code. There is yet another new policy at Nong Khai immigration. As of this month they said they don't do 90 day notifications by mail anymore. As I said above, my 90 days was up this week so I sent it off last week. When it hadn't come back by Friday I had my wife call and they told her that this month they stopped doing them by mail, you had to come in person. So, since I was now 2 days late, I went up there with my EMS receipt and a copy of the old tear off. Without mentioning what they told my wife I gave them a new form and the EMS receipt and explained that I hadn't received a reply. Without hesitation or looking through their records they just said "Lost" and proceeded to process my new form without any problem. My suspicious nature leads me to supect that the postal system is not where it was "lost". When it was handed to the guy on the right end of the line to sign he did but told me not to mail it to Nong Khai any more. BUT, he also said that if I wanted to do it by mail to send it to Bangkok. So, the good news is that it seems we can do them by mail, just not at Nong Khai.
I have found this post quite interesting because if for no other reason it shows how fickle the system is and how it can change almost over night. With so many hassles to contend with it makes someone like me think much harder about a move over there in a couple of years time. What a shame they can't just come up with a formula that works and leave it alone, still TIT

Does anyone know the current situation?
I reported by mail 21 Nov.without problem.
Cheers all,

Cheers all,
I have never reported by mail, but to avoid any hassles with the NK office,I thought I would go to BK,do a 90 report and then report every 90 days by mail.I had not reported for almost 4 years since I missed that report date 4 years ago and they told me to report 90 days after the next time I left the country, acting like it was no big deal!
I went to Laos 3 years ago and damn if I didn't forget again(developed a new habit ,I guess)!Talking to some guys that lived in NK for the last 10 years,I was reassured that NK Immigration was not concerned about the 90 day reports and most of them didn't report anymore with a couple of guys telling me that they had been told not to worry about it by the Immigration office!
I lived in BK for a long time and always reported every 90 days! I always go to BK to extend my visa each year along with registration of the car and drivers license needs, because I still use the Bangkok condo address for everything and I always use the same Immigration officer for my visa needs!
I feel that their has been a growing attitude of ''we don't need or want falangs other than high end tourists''in the last few years! So,I decided that it was time to dot the I's and cross the T's to avoid any hassles or fines!
I planned a trip to BK to visit and do my 90 day report as I had made another trip to Laos on Dec.12th,but my daughter has some entrance exams scheduled this week,so I postponed the family trip thinking I would take the train by myself versus driving with the family!
Monday the 10th,I decided I would drop into the NK office and do my report with the mindset that if I had any problems(anticipating that possibility, since many people have reported changes in personel attitude there),I would just politely get up,leave and take the train to BK for a report on the 11th or 12th!
This is my experience at the NK immigration:
I went there about 0830 Monday the 10th without the wife. The parking lot was full and so was Immigration .
I took several copies of forms from the basket and decided to come back later!
At 1530,I arrived again without the wife. This time the parking lot was empty and there were one person being processed and one person waiting.
I noticed that the room arrangement had been changed since my last vist 4 years ago.
No more counter in the processing room! The old counter area was filled with seating for ''customers'' facing a row of 4 Immigration officers sitting at desks!
2 men sitting on the outside desks with 2 women sitting at the middle 2 desks(the women sitting at the second desk from the left(as I am facingt them)had a sign saying squad leader!
As I started to take a seat, the 2nd woman(3rd desk) looked at me and indicated she would help me by a smileless hand gesture.
I had my form filled out with my passport in hand which I gave her as I sat down(there was no eye contact on her part)!
She looked at my form, started filling in the bottom portion, then she looked through my passport, finally she stamped the portion to put in my passport and went to staple it in ,suddenly she stopped and asked me,in Thai,''where my old form was as she noticed no old staple holes in my passport''(I got a new passport in Bangkok 3 years ago)??
I didn't answer her, just pointed to the departure card from Laos that was stapled in my PP!
She shrugged, stapled the form into my PP and handed it back without a smile!
I thanked her in English and left!

Stan, that was a real nice report, and quite a vivid picture of your experience that morning.
What confuses me, 747man, is what kind of registration did you do at the police station? Was it registering your address in Thailand, or was it the 90 day address report (which I though could only be made at an immigration office in person or by mail)?

ok, has anyone ever been late and fined for 90 day check in. renewed visa, ASSumed since 23rd, need to be back 23rd in 3 months, but no, NK had different date, and we week grace period had passed that, so now technically a week late. so i mail to bkk imm, proper room 106, and explain, NK doesn't accept any more, found out late, my apologies, pleas process. post card info in mail this week, 90 day not complete, only thing checked of, bypassing in options for paperwork or copies not correct, down bottom, 2000 baht fine, due to lateness. finally contacted after 20 calls, infor incomplete, to busy, contacted again, can take to any imm office and complete, just take what you normally need and they can pull up in comp file number and process.
anyone ever do this at nk, thinking of going up there, since closest, and if feel not to my liking, head to KK, and korat if necessary. no problem w/2000 fine, just don't want to here 500 a day times 20 days, thankyou. 7 day grace and bkk wants 2000 max. but won't say if i can mail, must do in person, well that's a pit impractical.
experiences w/NK, or better suggestion than mine, NK, hopefully honor 2000 baht, if not then down the road, closest first, KK - Korat.
thanks.
