Agencies

Post by kevinbrown » November 30, 2005, 10:33 pm

Hi All,
As a follow up to "Warning Signs"
I have been looking at dating agencies on the net and there are so many.
How can I be sure a dating agency is legitimate one?
How do I choose the right one, and how can they be checked?
Any advise and pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Kev

there are many many sites that are not agencies as such and are completely free.
www.thailovelinks
www.myforeignbride

even the yahoo chat rooms have thai people wanting to meet foreigners - although many of these are not as 'serious' as the two mentioned above.

I know many Thais who use these sites
Oh and www.megafriends too.

Paul, slight correction, Thailove links is free to join and submit profile but you must pay a membership fee,I believe they call it Gold, to communicate or read ladies letters, unless they in turn have paid.I looked through the ladies profiles and most of them were from Udon for some reason.
Haven't been able to access the other one you mentioned.

Did any one read the case in US where Matchcom are being sued by a member who charges that they are sending false mails to punters whose membership is about to expire to encourage them to pay again.Who knows you may get Mr Gates!!
What a catch that would be?
There was another agency alleged to be inventing profiles to get people to join.
As a previous poster said"Where do you go?"
Its a minefield out there.
If you really want to make sure she's not after your money.Put on your profile," Penniless Englishman looking for Thai wife" Don't suppose you'll get many replies though. TIT

http://www.myforeignbride.com/

heres the link i have just taken direct from the site

Of course there are others too such as www.asianfriendfinder.com and www.adultfriendfinder.com , www.thailandfriends.com - but when i glanced these seemed to be rather more 'adult' orientated.

I am sure there are dozens more too.

When I had my internet shop I was constantly busy making profiles for girls (and a few boys of questionable sexuality LOL) wanting to find a farang boyfriend - some were innocent and genuine - others weren't. There is a full time business also writing emails and translating emails to/for these girls - again some genuine and innocent, others they were almost professional scavengers.

For the record - I used to put people on Yahoo, and providing their picture was half decent- always got replies, but there were no fees or anything although you sometimes had to fight off the masses of Indian people replying sometimes LOL. I also did a few for megafriends too.

As regrads the fee on thailovelinks etc - I never replied to any so didn't delve too deep into the site - I know that girls can post their picture on there for free and wasn't aware that if a guy wanted to reply - he had to be a (paid) member. Although it is possible to send limited correspondence for free just by registering to be a (free) member.
I can understand that - websites cost money and its not always covered with advertising.
So initially you can make contact for free-albeit limited.

Interesting to look through the photographs though. Some stunners in there and some ...ermmm 'past their sell by date' shall we say. !

Incidentally :-
Did you have any replies Valentine ????
send them my email address if you have any spare - LOL :)

Just been doing some research on Dating & Marriage agencies.Ever since the UK brought in legislation contolling their registration and behaviour, including licensing premises, most have relocated to Australia which has no such controls. Maybe we should have a Danger Signs forum on here.!!!

Mr Nicey, I already said I wouldn't comment further, but as you have chosen to send me a rather long PM giving a full synopsis of this case and the family involved, I am forced to reply, but owing to the legal implications, which could be defamatory, if not libelous, I choose to answer publicly.
First let me say, I have no knowledge of this case, and don't wish to have. From what you say, you have certainly have fallen into the lions den, with you as the main item on the menu. You describe a family thats grossly evil, both the English and the Thai side.In your place I would be thanking the Lord Buddha for delivering me from this evil, the monetry side is of minor concern compared to the apparent effect it is having on your mind. For your own sanity, hand any evidence of wrong doing, over to the authorities, let them handle it, then get on with your life, find a nice girl, be more careful, take your time and start enjoying the pleasures of Thailand and the nice Thai girls. There are many out there waiting for you, when you have got the hatred out of your heart.Good Luck!!

If he is a genuine guy then there is not a more helpful forum out there.Ranting at the good guys will not elicit much help and changes the feeling of the forum.I hope it does not change,i like the "atmosphere" on here.
