Motorcycles goggles

Just wondering should I buy a set of biker goggles here in the states or can they had there? On my last trip to the Nong Khai super sized flea market I don't remember if they were sold there or not or if I can get them in Udon?

Hmm since I'm asking about Udon stores has anyone seen any good Iron Maiden concert t-shirts for sell there or is it off to eBay?

I've seen these goggles everywhere in Pattaya, rubbish build quality or made of plastic.
I doubt very much if they would pass American/European safety standards.
I would not risk my eyesight, ship them from the States.

thai 1 if your in the states now get what you think you might need because finding it here is a bit-ch
in fact get two pairs I will buy one from you when you get here
and if you see them with night vision lenses buy it for your self as well for me because you can not find that any were in thailand and if you take vitamins bring your supply with you some you will not find here and get your self a couple of cans of jock itch they will come in handy and you will use it come summer time LOL also get your self a down vest for riding the bike at night they come in handy I am sure you know what a down vest is I wear large LOL good for winter night riding

Aznyron good points as I have about 2 or 3 weeks to go before "the big move" happens. Night vision lens

I didn't know of any such animal but I'll check. Take a look on eBay and if you see something PM me and we'll work something out.

Don't think I'll need the jock itch powder as I move furniture here in Florida and can live with hot weather...now cold weather is a problem. The down vest may be a good idea if I can find room in the suit cases as I have to bring a pair of Pink Flamingo's to put on the farm

Just an idea here.

Before I made my move, I mailed a box of personnel stuff, things that I didn't have room for in my travel bags and not of real value except good to have. I sent it by surface (sea) through the USPS. As it was a heavy box, surface was the least expensive. Anyway, I receive the box about 6 weeks later, USPS said between 4-6 weeks. I used my wife's maiden name, wrapped the box in kraft paper and marked gift on the customs form. No problems on the receiving end.

thai 1 I must correct my self in my wording I said night vision my mistake it called night driving lenses they are a golden yellow lense in color they can be worn day or night they reduce the glare of the head lights at night and seem to make the night darkness brighter any way I think you understand me now . I have seen the regular motor cycle gogles in wal-mart oh another good idea get your self a rain poncho for riding your bike in the rain I brought one back with me it some how walk away on me LOL if I ever get back to the states I am going with empty suit cases and bringing all the sh.it I can not find here back with me. another point I don't know how big you are but if your built like me you will find it hard to find clothes to fit you here so if you waist line is larger than 36 get your self a few extra pair of jeans if you wear them. shoe size larger than a 10 get what you wear in the states because you will find hard to find here. now I will say to me it not worth driving all over BKK to find clothes & shoes /sandals to fit me
look at every option because once you leave that it LOL

Thai 1 On, I've been using the yellow lens, wrap around glasses on my bike for about 2 years now. Currently on my 2nd (or 3rd) pair and bought them locally... in Charoensi Plaza - but they're rather expensive... 100 baht.

. The toughest problem I have is buying shirts, I'm not terribly big but also not too well proportioned

, seems my waist size is nearly as large as my shoulders lately. Buying XL or XXL T-shirts is sometimes a problem. But I've not had a problem finding size 38 pants.

A quick question... what kind of bike riding do you expect to do? If 'off-road', I recommend buying a good pair or two of proper goggles while you're still in the land of the Big PX. Since I'm not doing any dirt riding any longer, I get along just fine with wrap around lenses but of course they won't keep the dust out if you're on a dirt trail/road.

thai 1 if you have your computer software bring it with you
all they have here is pirate crap especially if you have win/xp orig/copy
and if you use a desktop pc you can remove the mother board and bring the memory (ram) with you the rest is very cheap oh leave the processor plug in to the mobo makes it easier for transporting it or sending it any comp. shop will put it together for you and sell you the case and all the hardware you need oh bring your hard drive also this way you don't lose what you have downloaded on it I will keep thinking of what you might need keep reading my post this way if I should mention some thing you might want here you can write it down & bring it

I bought a pair of safety goggles at Global House that seemed to work pretty well (and were pretty cheap, about 40 Baht or so.)

yos I found in my years of life you get what you pay for and 40baht is not what I would call get some thing of quality a good pair of goggles would run around 15 to 20 USD you make to conversion

Yamaha is doing a promotion special at the moment, you can buy a V. Good helmet (with their name on it) + a pair of the old aviator glasses the big ones with leather cushioning around them for 490 Baht. Their helmets also have a clip on the back to hold the head band of the Glasses, if you buy some and don’t leave them on your bike when you park, then they might last longer then the 10 days I enjoyed ridding around with them on.

Pakawala I stand 6' 1" and wear 36" waist pants and hopefully I wont grow any larger but, I love that curry

As far as shoes I may have a problem as I wear size 12, something else to bring with me.

It appears as papaguido's suggestion of shipping USPS may have to be a route were going to have to use. I have an old set of Bose speakers, you the little stacked cube models with the powered sub-unit. It's heavy so I'll have to ship it USPS any tips on packing and getting them through customs/taxes and to Udon in tact. I can use these baby's to have my revenge neighbors if they want to get into a music blasting contest

Before I retired I was separated from the family short of 2 years. In that time I used the USPS frequently for mailing toys, clothes, electronic merchandise, etc. When shipping electronic device's or anything of real value I never listed it on the customs form. I always wrote children's books or something less appealing in it's place. I always annotated "GIFT" on the customs form and sent to my wife's maiden name. None of our shipments were ever opened nor did my wife ever pay customs fees.

Anything fragile, like speakers, send it buy air (Priority), not surface. Might cost you extra but it won't sit at the bottom of a 20ft container for 30-60 days. My wife told me that boxes arriving by surface usually tended to be "beat up" or dented. Air shipments arrived in better condition.

Insurance: I use to buy insurance, but then stopped. I figured if the item was insured than it was most likely gone "missing". Thai logic...if it's inured than the sender will get his money back, therefore no guilt (not proven, just my theory). Every package I mailed was received. However, since I've moved here I have experienced lost mail that's addressed to me. Mainly my VFW subscription, but I did get a letter from the IRS

Always use kraft paper and seal all the seams with good quality shipping tape. This way you know if the package was opened. Not a problem now, but when it's humid cheap tape loses it's stickyness, experience

I definitely agree. I was only riding a Wave 125 around town so I just wanted something to keep the bugs out of my eyes. For serious riders it is definitely worth it to buy something more substantial, especially from overseas.

Keeping with UM tradition thread change! Thanks to papaguido I have found a good shipping service. Shipping my Bose speakers to Udon will run around $160

My question is can I get a good set of "small" speakers for $160 or less in Udon? You know the kind, see below.

Yeah well, at least Chong knows the size... and they weren't tea-cup size either.
