Why do you put up with a Thai wife?

Post by businessman » December 14, 2005, 2:27 pm

A poll as a counter balance to wansmans poll and a knowledge that love is not the all for some farang here.As its anonymous maybe a true picture will be seen.

If you think some of the options are odd, like illness,i put that in because i know two guys who have terrible Thai wives but are ill and so put up with them as they get a full time nurse.

There is nothing to put up with, we do pretty good for 2 love birds. We have the usually understandings and misunderstandings that are in all marriages.

I think these polls are going from the sublime to the ridiculous. all I can think of is, some people are having serious doubts about their own relationships and need the bolster of knowing other peoples troubles.ie: are they any worse than mine.I suggest a counselling session is in order, not another meaningless poll.

Ray, maybe after we get there, will let wife do a bit of teaching on how to prepare Mexican food. Wife does pretty good and her sister usually sells about 20 to 40 dozen tamales every week. We always kid her about being a Thai/Mexican or Thaiacan. :D :D

I put up the poll because i see some local farang putting up with terrible wives and was curious as to the motivation. One of them has a wife with three or four Thai boyfriends that he knows of but does nothing.I have an innate love of psycology and am by nature very curious. If i ask something intrusive, feel free to ignore the question. :D

On reflection. Why would I put up with a Thai wife? Can you tell me who else would have married an old, slightly deaf miserable old git like me?

so what you are really saying is that you put up with her because she puts up with you.

Brian, the opening of the relationship section has added a whole new dimension to the forum. You can see by the number of posts and thousands of page views that cross cultural partnerships are a hot topic.I have been in one for eight years and there's a long way to go before i can say i comprehend what it is like from the Thai side.

Don't suppose we ever really will. I've had 3 Thai wives, spanning 28 years, and I sure don't. Just when you think you do, bang something new hits you. Isn't that part of the mystery though?

You know guys it is the simple things that drive you crazy.

One I'm going through at the moment, had a water tank installed at the new house. It over flows, real simple problem the float valve in the tank is installed crooked, if it isn't straight the valve can not close completly as the water level comes up. Not rocket science.

Construction guy is a former teacher for construction everyone swears by him and in the other things he has done great. But this one he just doesn't get. I have explaining this now for six days. Through my wife, go check it today, still not fixed, over flowing on the ground. Wifes answer when I try to explain it again. water full. No Sh-t. so is all the ground around it.

Now I don't expect my wife to understand plumbing, but after four years as a Navy Pipefitter I do expect her to understand that I do. He reaction is getting frustrated with me, why because she can not see the problem.

What would have to be done now, is someone is going to have to get up every night on the hour to see if the tank is overflowing to manually turn the valve off. Or we waste water and pay for something we are not using.

I'm trying to make her and my life better but it' a up hill fight all the way. That is very tiresome.

Hence I need the Thai lessons well beyond where is the bathroom.

Marcus and Valentine, I agree with you both on this. I am always amazed, One thing about five years ago we sat down for one of our long insiteful chats and we both came to a conclusion. People are people no matter where they are. Now that wife has been in the States quite a while, she started comparing folks our town to the folks in her home town. Gosh we had a town gossip, redneck, businessman, drunk, men running around, women running around,Etc. So then we said what is the difference? We could not really find a lot of differences! The folks there and here just wanted their children to be better than them, and to happily get old.

Sure there are minor differences but when we started looking at it from this perspective, things seemed more normal. As I told Mr. Nicely, honor respect and integrety are three things I look for. If you can't find them in yourself you will not find them in other folks.

Marcus, I to have enjoyed this relationship section. Have seen some very good and weird post come from here. Mine are most likely the most weird, but it is me and who I am. :D :D
