Trouble logging on....

Ok same problem when using my older laptop last night.(and today)

For a couple of days now, I have not been able to log in using Firefox 2.0.0.12 on Mac 10.4.10, but I can log in using Safari.

I’m puzzled why it's working ok for some but others are having problems. I have run a few tests myself and everything appears fine, unfortunately I can't replicate the problems so I'm unable to find the fault.
The login problem IMO appears to be a simple cookie issue which can be fixed by clearing your cookies from time to time.

With regards to time-out's, invalid-session etc. This, I believe is due to security issues which I can't do much about without removing a piece of code. If I do this it will reduce the forum security. The time-out/invalid_sessions are due to the way your ISP's handle your IP's, if you pause browsing i.e. when posting a reply, your ISP may switch IP's, phpbb will notice the change in IP strings and cause an invalid session or time out. A simple way around this is to click your browser back button and then click submit again.

I'm sorry about this guys and gals, please keep me updated.

AOL is renowned for switching between IP's so if this is your ISP you may experience problems with time-outs, invalid sessions and probably logging on.

I'm using GPRS (1 to call) and Firefox/2.0.0.12.

I have had no problems with the site at all. Infact it has been pretty quick for the last couple of days (well quick for 1 2 call....

)

p.s. I have Firefox/2.0.0.12 set up so that it clears nearly everything every time I log off...

well i just logged on again(via the home page) and all the posts i read this morning are still showing as un-read....

, i did log on this morning using home page too.

also when i logged off this morning and closed the browser then went back to the forum it showed me still logged on.

now using IE, and have logged on the forum via the forum page(and not home page) ok no probs, will keep using today on and off to see what happens.

At the moment it seems its a problem with Firefox, IE has been sweet as a nut,i have both browsers open and firefox its not logging me on via forum page, then click straight over to IE and all is ok via forum page.

I think firefox did an auto update end of last week, (the update section says the date was 1/1/1970) !!

If i did a restore point before last week would that auto update be wiped off too...? so i would have the version before this one an hopfully get back to 'normal'.?

I'm using Firefox and have no problems. I did download and install an updated version of Firefox a couple of days ago.

all ok now. at the mo...(but a bit slow)

i have not deleted my cookies or done a clean up.
not updated f/fox (dont have to do any of that for any other websites/forums to work,so why do it here ?)

so... **** knows what the problem is

anyway, we will see i guess

If you go to Google and type in can't log into forum using firefox just look at the results. Seems like members of just about every forum known to man are having log in problems. I had a look but there seems to be little in the way of an accurate solution.

Would be interesting to see if anybody having problems hang around the same sites, Youtube, facebook, flickr etc...

Maybe it's an issue with Java and Firefox!!!

Very inisghtful, Lee =D> . I cleared the cookies and now I can log in via Firefox. Thank you!

Rick if you go to Tool, Options in Firefox a tab appears. If you click on the 'Privacy' tab then you can tick the Always clear my private data when I close Firefox & Ask me before clearing private data boxes. You can also click the Settings button & say exactly what Private Data you want cleared.
The advantage of clicking the ask before clearing box is that if you get cut off & want to restart your Firefox session when you log back on then you can just cancel the Clear Private data box when you restart.

Logged in and out via forum page 3 times today and it is ok....for now.

So a problem with Firefox...maybe they have sorted it.

Like I said, I am using Firefox and don't have a problem.

Cookies and local servers are the most likely causes.

I clear my cookies regularly.

I cleared the cookies and it made no differance what so ever, i also used my other laptop and have'nt cleared any thing on that for months and it was the same.
Remember, i could log on fine through the home page But not the forum page.

IE(which i hardly use) was perfect everytime, on both laptops.

In my case i am certain the problem lies with-in Firefox and this forum somewhere, all said and done it is working fine today, but the slowness in posting(at times) and 4 critical errors today is still around.

20 mins later........

EDIT : i spoke too soon, log in not possible on forum page.
On IE now and perfect.

Plus all the other forums i log on too have no problem using FF.

i just logged on...and it showed me logged on (on the home page) then transfer to the forum and it logs me out straight away 5 times it did it....

logged in on home page, go to forum and im logged out ..
cant post in the chatter box ,click `say `and it loggs me off again
can log in on the forum page..with fire fox
cant upload a new avatar all i get is this,,,

all other forum`s are ok, can log on(as allways)

so to clarify...
all other websites/fourm`s/chat /etc etc etc etc etc etc etc ....... on the internet i can log onto with no problems useing fire fox, and i have still not deleted Cookies as all other site work just fine.

sooo errr fecked if know whats going on LOL

Its the cookies -at least in my case.
