Testing your GF

Post by arjay » December 16, 2005, 11:51 am

We've had a very successful topic with "Danger Signs", how about following that through into how to test your new GF.

If I go out somewhere with a new GF, I take note of what she chooses to eat, if she picks the most expensive things. Similarly, if we go shopping and I offer to buy her something, whether she picks expensive things, :( or whether she says that's too expensive and picks something more modestly price. In other words, does she take care of (my) money or spend it all too readily! :)

I would not be too quick to tell a new GF about my financial situation, if anything I usually tell them I don't have much money and see if they stay around. But it is an interesting point, that if in due course, the subject of "you buy(me)house" crops up, it can be interesting to tell them "I have bought one already". And then wait and see the reaction. :o

If she is pre-occupied with whose name it is in, or whether it can be transferred into her name, rather than just pleased that she may be able to live there with you, then that would concern me. :(

I was once looking at apartments to buy, with a GF at that time. She was very interested and helpful, until she found out that it would be sold on a lease and would be in my name. Then she didn't think it was a good idea at all! :x

Probably, and pass her on for "testing" ; I am still unsure of his initial intentions here.

Does he want to "test" all the GF? And my wife certainly will not approve. It's the chop for me if I were caught doing this.

This original posting was intended to assist those who are still hunting for a GF, not those who are already happily encumbered!! The idea was that it would supplement the "Danger Signs" thread.!

It was intended to highlight other "Danger Signs" that may become evident later. Sorry, I forgot to include the Medical aspects.

Thanks Arjay. I would just note that my GF passed all of the tests you mentioned in the beginning. As our relationship progressed, though, I discovered that she really was really quite lazy and always demanded money for her family. This behaviour did not surface until much later in the relationship. So, I think even if they pass the initial "tests", perhaps they are aware they are being tested and are merely lying in wait for the ink to dry on the marriage certificate.

Snowden - Agreed.

Also, I think that many don't believe us anyway, if we say we don't have much/any money, and if they are more astute, are prepared to take a longer term view/assessment of the situation! 8)

not sure about the test, or what ever, but only 2223, and i'm on
4 lg heiny, sorry to my tiger gals. and she is 75 + kms away, and not an issue for either of us. might not see here for day or 2.

she is more khee neow than me. so all is good. listening to iron man/paranoid album, river view and loving it.

no test necessary, door goes both ways, at your will, pick one. not sure if this has anything with op, but hey, #4, anyone care. better leave those happy things alone for a while, have a flight of steps to negotiate.

wow, #4 and only one typo, i changed, damn i'm good.

It's quite disturbing actually as there are so many more important things in life than money. Come to think of it, money is probably one of the least important things in life.

I think you mean in your life.

I think that the people who can't eat and haven't got a decent home because they don't have any money don't share your opinion.

I agree with Frankie. Try telling a Thai women, money is of no importance, or any other women for that matter. Money is a great tool, and unfortunately, we all must have some amount of it to at least live, and the more of it, the better life can be. That's just the very basic hard truth. No money, no honey, holds very true here, in just about in any country.

As far as the topic, it seems most Western men in this country should do more reality testing on themselves, and not on the Thai women.

There are a ton of great women in this country, but if some men, only venture as far as the bar stool only to be surrounded by bar girls, and end up with one, then they screwed themselves over.

There are better choices of Thai women, that come from well to do families, educated, and have a descent life by their own accord.

If one hangs around trash, all they see is trash, and then, they end up with trash.

Why test a ***** when there are good descent women, that don't need to be tested? One can't turn a ***** into a lady. Why try and polish a turd?
People get what they pay for.

The reality is, the majority of bar girls are bar *****. It's a very poor country and will continue to be for quite some time, so money is very important here. Very few 25 year old women actually want a gelatinous, farang 30-40 years their senior for true unconditional love, and awesome sex. The same goes for many women in other countries. There may be that 1% chance, but that's about it.

I agree, health for example, but the reality is that life is a hell of a lot easier if you don't have daily concerns about where the next baht is coming from. I would argue that money and the need to get it almost by any means one can IS the number 1 pursuit in Thailand. As somebody said, we're ALL chasing money one way or another wherever we live but in Thailand it's more 'in your face'.

Yes, until one doesn't have any, money that is.
Anyone ever go through the "first visit with the family" I remember how privileged I felt when I was met at the airport with the whole family, just entering into Song kran ,years ago, before B.U. was even thought of.But we stopped at big c to load up on goods for the coming festive weekend.Which is pretty standard procedure in any country . I was even accompanied to the restroom,in case I got lost ,it was a warm fuzzy feeling (could of been ether ). But what wasn't standard proceedure was when the cash register spit the final total out and you could of heard a pin drop ,as all eyes turned to look at the "guest of honor". Hlarious and it went down hill from there. 4 days stuck in a village with a group of pisstanks and a token farang.
Even coughed up for the stereo rental. So furious after 4 days that I and prospective girlfriend (ya right) went into town to return, to ,at that time ,koh samui.
Ended up having to ride in the back of a pick up all the way from Khon kaen to bkk.no cover. I collected an A for that short course from B.U.
