Cheese on Toast. How much?

Post by Galee » July 10, 2007, 3:34 pm

Went into a well know resturant next to Mojos last Thursday. A friend and I both had cheese on toast. Cost, 140Baht each. Result, one lost customer.

Wow. You could have the buffet breakfast at the Charoen sri Grand Hotel for less than that. (I think)

What kind of cheese was it?

Maybe the resturant saw this story....

[quote]A recent auction on the eBay is going to stun you, where Tom Bridge from Newburgh, Lancashire is going to put up his renovated cheese toast, costing ฃ345 a slice for sale. I know I am going to stop every time I bite into my slice of Cheese toast. But if you think of the contents you would know why Bridge tagged a slice at such a high - L

200 baht at charoensri and well worth it though their wine selection is price loaded.Just ask them for it to be done at breakfast or at lunchtime.Trying to ask for welsh rarebit does get lost in translation with the Thais.

Must check out the price at seaside am sure probably half that price.

Why you not try Nobi's,road from Irish clock.
You can choose your favorite cheese, with real gernan bread, butter,
big selection,not expensive.
Starting from Holand Edamer 435,-/Kilo
Most expensive is Appenzeller from Switzerland 1150,-/Kilo
Imported rom Danmark,Switzerland,Holland,New Zealand,Australia.
Or just take a selection from different cheese, with bread and butter for 120,-Bth.
Its's a nice breakfast, different to he normal stuff in Udon.
Bread is comming fresh everyday from Rudi,Nongkai,Master of Bakery.
The Farmer, like to eat Muesli every morning for now. 8)

(coming onto this post a little late...)

Yeah, its one of my favorite dishes there. If the price put you off, why not order something else? The price is on the menu.

A couple of you are mistakenly assuming I knew the price before I ordered.

To clarify for you.

I went in with a friend, I was unsure what to order. He ordered cheese on toast so I said I'd have the same. It wasn't until bill came I realised the price. The majority of posters agree, 140 baht is way over the top.

As I originally stated, one lost customer. Never been back.

For those of you who like Steves, are you doing the restaurant a good service by prolonging a thread that is months old and gives a negative impression?
