Best sandwiches and also best value for money in Pattaya IMO is Uncle Charlies on Soi 11 off Second Road, across fron the Bay Breeze Hotel. Cheese on toast (grilled cheese sandwich) was 40 baht. Excellent bacon, lettuce, tomato on toast was 55 baht. Country ham with tomato and lettuce on toast was 60 baht.

The Villa Market has prepared sandwiches (roast beef and other) for about 60 baht in the bread section.

At various other pattaya restaurants I had sandwiches of poorer quality and paid 155 to 220 baht.

I think the brit version is on open sandwich, which ever, way overpriced, especially for the processed version of cheese sold here, worst than the states.

on the topic of cheese, one of my favorites, luckily way overpriced for the good stuff, so forced dietary measures exist, thankfully, as I can eat cheese all day. point is, pizza, overpriced to say the least here, except for last month, pizza company 2 for 1 deal makes it decent value, and they load the toppings on most times. pan pizza still way too much oil, but that's about it for my pizza in Thailand unless in bkk.

have to agree, many things in and out of restaurants are way overpriced. but since restaurants was brought up, hard to argue with Ron, for what you get sometimes and the decor/ambiance it's hard to justify sometimes, especially now with heat and flies increasing. I notice, and have mention maybe before, lol, most things I get out in restaurants are things I don't do, too lazy to do, or value wise, isn't worth doing. I usually go to the same places and order the same things.

yeah our version is just a slice of bread toasted one side then place layers of cheese on the un-toasted side and back under the grill until the cheese starts to bubble, simple yet effective and should be in-expensive.

good chinese restaurants that did buffet which I like eat until you bust then go home and take the TUMS LOL

Ron if you use Firefox as your browser, rather than the far inferior IE, you can load a spelling add-on (either in real English - UK, or non-real English - US).

This will highlight any spelling mistakes as you type. You then only have to right click on the misspelt word, and it will give you the correct spelling. You then click on the new word, and it will replace the incorrectly spelt word.

Wirks for me evry tyme

Yes, stupidly I've returned to katuhy city. I was up in Udon 3 weeks last month getting the lay of the land and just checking things out but you know, it's a major adjustment, especially if your single without a liason.

I'm not really sure what's going on with asiabooks, they briefly had a small shop on walking street, but that closed and I noticed their volumes ended up at bookazine. Nice to get a paperback once in a while.

When you first arrive in Patters you breath a sigh of relief, aahhh, ocean breezes, 24 hour everything, but unless you're drinking heavily the tailor salesmen grabbing at you and watching the she-males drag unsuspecting farangs off into the darkness and the young, yaba'd out Thai males who seem to be involved in crime or pimping the girls. it's just in your face all
the time and headache inducing (just in case anybody forgot).

just for comparison sake. I bought a large flat white and a meat pie from a fancy bakery, in a tourist town, over easter and was charged about 350b. on saturday night a friend decided that for his wife's birthday we would go to the buffet at a fancy hotel near the casino here. buffet cost 2200b per person and stubbies of VB were 280b each. then off to the casino paying 200b a pop for crown lagers (small beers). all up i think i spent about 5600b on the night. hence I don't go out here very often.
when I think about what fun I could have had with that much on a night(s) out in udon i cry.......and cheese on toast for 140b doesn't even seem so bad

Marjamlew just think of the fun you could have had in Patts or Jomtien if you stayed away from the rip off joints. and 140 baht for cheese sand is a rip off. on another point bar fines are out of line in Udon
patts & jomtien 200 baht and if it more you get the room with it of course there are many rip off joints in patts but we have a saying buyer beware.
